Galadinner with the president broke a new record
On Monday, 17th of April, the twelfth charity dinner of the Carolin Illenzeer Foundation was held at the Noblessner Foundry, where the patron of the Foundation, President of the Republic Alar Karis and his wife, the previous patron of the Foundation, President Kersti Kaljulaid, and the Minister of Defence, Hanno Pevkur, also participated. The charity auction raised more than 30,000 euros to support the children of the armed forces, breaking the previous records for art auction donations.
The dinner once again showed the solidarity of Estonians, We have enough kindness to support Ukraine and at the same time, we do not forget those who have risked their lives or given their lives so that Estonians could enjoy peace in their homeland.
Alar Karis, patron of the Foundation, stated in his welcome speech: "Current times require a lot from us as a society. A lot of endurance, inner strength and, perhaps most of all, concrete actions. Good ideas are the beginning of everything, but these must also lead to good deeds. We cannot stop supporting our veterans, the wounded in service, and the families of the fallen. Thanks to our military personnel, who have given their lives or health contributing to Estonia's security, our national defence is stronger today. Because of them, we can feel safe in our homes. We must value and protect these people and their families every day."
One of the most fascinating parts of the dinner is always the charity art auction. Litographs and paintings were provided by the Whitedove.Art Art and Culture Foundation. The auction included works by Jaak Visnap, Björn Koop, Kalev Marko Kostabi, Ivar Kaasik, Külli Suitso and Jüri Arrak. The art was sold for 30,050 euros overall in an exciting bid and close competition.
The musical mood was created by the Tuuleviiul ensemble of Old Town Educational College and Lasnamäe Music School and the beloved Estonian singers Tanja Mihhailova-Saar and Ott Lepland on Estraadiraadio.
The Carolin Illenzeer Foundation collects donations to support the education of children of the Estonian Defence Forces who have fallen and been seriously injured. There are 69 children and adolescents on the list of the Foundation. The youngest has just been born, and the oldest have already passed the defence forces and entered universities. The Foundation considers the support for university studies to be very important.
